662 Brigade Treats Kilinochchi Public with Christmas Carols
Soldiers serving 662 Brigade, sharing the spirit of Christmas with the youth of Kilinochchi, organized a grand Carol service at Shivanagar Sports Grounds Sunday (23) eve to mark the Holy Birth of Jesus Christ. The Christmas Carols attended by a large number of people in the area was also witnessed by the General Officer Commanding 66 Division, Brigadier A. M. R. Dharmasiri, Commander 662 Brigade, Colonel N. P. Akuranthilaka and senior officers of the Sri Lanka Army.
The office of the Civil Affairs Coordination in the Security Forces Headquarters-East (SFHQ-E), on the eve of the commencement of the GCE O/L examination, organized a seminar for student candidates at Palabimadu Sittivinayagar Vidyalaya. 12 Sri Lanka Artillery troops with the support of the Civil Affairs Coordination Office organized the arrangement, providing the attendees with meals and refreshments.
The graduation ceremony of the Long Gunners Staff Course (LGSC) of the School of Artillery at Minneriya took place recently under the aegis of Brigadier D.A.R Ranawaka, General Officer Commanding, 56 Division as the Chief Guest. The course, meant for other ranks was pursued by 17 Non Commissioned Officers (NCOs) and Senior NCOs. The Chief Guest awarded mementos to those who did well during the course.
Troops serving the Task Force - 3 at Akkaraipattu recently launched a X’mas programme for the benefit of Christian civilians of low-income groups, living in Aligambay village in the Alaiadiwembu Divisional Secretariat. Commander, Task Force - 3 on the directions of the Security Forces Headquarters – East (SFHQ-E) organized the distribution of gift packets among children and civilians........
To coincide with the Christmas festival, 573 Brigade Headquarters under the Security Forces Headquarters – Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN) gave away school books and accessories to 20 students during a Christmas celebration at St. Xavier Church at Welikandal, Kilinochchi. The event, attended by the Commander, SFHQ-KLN, Major General Udaya Perera as the Chief Guest saw a large gathering of Christians, taking part in the arrangement on December 20, 2012.
The eight-month long Sniper Training Course - 16 at Sniper Trainers School at Diyatalawa had its Passing out Parade (POP) recently during a grand military ceremony. The course was followed by 6 foreign military officers and other ranks, 2 Army officers and 23 other ranks, and three Navy personnel including an officer. Chief Guest for the occasion Major General H.M.H.A. Herath, Commander, Army Training Command (ARTRAC) attended the graduation ceremony, together with 112 Brigade Commander........

Security Forces Headquarters – Jaffna (SFHQ-J), in keeping with the government policy of releasing civilians’ owned portions of land, hitherto being used by the troops in the Jaffna peninsula formally, handed over another 32-acre private land, belonging to 45 Jaffna families on December 21, 2012. This stretch of land at Ramavil where the former IDP welfare centre stood after the completion of humanitarian operations...........
