  • Army's 50th Anniversary Inter Regiment Athletics Meet Gets Underway

    The 50th Anniversary Inter Regiment Athletics Championship Meet - 2013, together with a grand Photo Exhibition that displays the genesis of Army athletics and its achievements, was inaugurated Tuesday (26) morning at Sugathadasa National Stadium with the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake, gracing the occasion as the  Chief Guest.
     
  • With New Glimmers of Hope, Curtains Fall on 50th Army Athletics Championship


    Generating more and more glimmers of hopes to the Nation in athletics, curtains fell on Thursday (28) evening on the landmark 50th anniversary Inter Regiment Athletics Championship of the Army that continued for three days at Sugathadasa National Stadium. The closing ceremony of the organized by the Army Athletics Committee on the directions of the Commander of the Army and graced by Hon D.M Jayaratne, Prime Minister as the Chief Guest came to an end with all the pomp and ceremony of a sports event of international standards.
  • Indian Navy Chief & Korea's Defence Attaché Call on Commander


    Admiral D.K. Joshi PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM, ADC, Chief of Naval Staff of Indian Navy currently in Sri Lanka to attend the annual ‘Galle Dialogue - 2013’, paid a courtesy call on the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake on Thursday (28) morning at Army Headquarters. Major General Jagath Dias, Adjutant General and Major General J.C. Rambukpotha, Chief of Staff Office of the Chief of Defence Staff received the visiting Navy Chief of India and ushered him.
  • Agony Before Ecstasy for Wijekoon


    National record holder and former Sri Lanka captain Chaminda Wijekoon returned to his pet event, 1500m, in the evening but couldn't cross the finishing line in his usual position as Lionel Samarajeewa (SLEME) beat him in the final amidst a huge roar of the crowd on the final day of the Golden Jubilee Army Athletics Championship concluded at the Sugathdasa Stadium yesterday.
     
  • Netherlands' Envoy Calls on Commander


    Ambassador for Netherlands, Mr Louis Piet on Friday (29) morning, together with Defence Attache, paid a courtesy call on the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake at the Commander’s office, Army Headquarters. During their cordial meeting, they exchanged views on mutual matters of interest and focused on relations that have been maintained between both countries.
  • Commander Makes a Surprise Visit to Hospital Construction Site

    Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake, visited the ten-storied hospital construction complex, now fast nearing completion at Narahenpita on Friday (29) morning. He toured the building complex and spoke to technicians, attending to the erection of modular operating theatres and members of the the Army workforce working there.
