  • Cornered Tigers Meet with Their Doom; Forty-five Dead Tigers & 79 T-56 Weapons Collected

    MULLAITTIVU: TIGER terrorists, now cornered further into the northern most PUTHUKKUDIYIRUPPU belly area and ANALANKULAM received another heavy beating Friday (3) afternoon and suffered losing more than 40 of their front-line cadres. 58 Division troops resisting Tiger onslaught fought valiantly during pitched battles and got rid of more than 40 Tigers. At the time this report was filed, troops have collected 40 dead Tigers, sixty T-56 weapons, four Rocket Propeller Guns, two I-com sets, ten claymore mines, 60 mortars, fifteen anti personnel mines, twenty-eight packs and several LTTE uniforms.

    MULLAITTIVU: A BULLET-PROOF LIMOUSINE, confirmed to have been used by the terrorist supremo, PRABHAKARAN himself in WANNI province and a luxurious air-conditioned LTTE bungalow, erected to the northeast of PUTHUKUDIRIPPU area were uncovered as dusk fell on Friday (3) alone with four more burnt LTTE cars when the troops rolled on further interior after collecting over forty-five dead Tigers.   • LTTE Top-Rung Leaders, AMIRTHAP & KOBITH Lose Their Lives

    MULLAITTIVU: TWO more top-rung Tiger leaders, AMIRTHAP alias AMUTHAB and KOBITH alias GOBITH have perished during the very same PUTHUKUDIYIRIPPU fighting on 31st March 2009, in which PRABHAKARAN’s son, CHARLES ANTHONY was confirmed injured. AMIRTHAP was the leader of the so-called LTTE’s “Charles Anthony Regiment” at the time of his loss following military confrontations. He became the leader in 2008 after serving as the special leader for the so-called “Imran Pandiyan Regiment” in 2006. He was in charge of the LTTE Forward Defence Lines in NAGARKOVIL in the year 2007. 

  • Two Tiger Boats Destroy With Terrorists on Board

    MULLAITTIVU: TROOPS guarding ALAMPIL area observed two boats in the sea moving towards them around 3.00 a.m. Saturday morning (4). Those two boats armed with machine guns started firing towards the soldiers on the land. Troops retaliated using automatic weapons destroying both boats with several LTTE terrorists on board.

  • UN Secretary General Deplores LTTE

    UNITED NATIONS Secretary General Ban Ki Moon yesterday called upon the LTTE leadership to allow civilians to leave the conflict area of their own free will. He also criticized the severe restrictions of the LTTE on their freedom of movement that violate international law. The Secretary General also deplored the forced recruitment of civilians, particularly children.

  • Army Commander Reviews New Developments in Vanni

    COMMANDER of the Army Lieutenant General Sarath Fonseka, along with a few Senior Officers of the Army Headquarters, flew to Vavuniya to review the latest developments of the security situation in Vanni areas. Army Commander, after being received by Commander Security Forces Headquarters Wanni (SFHQ-W) Major General Jagath Jayasuriya, was conducted to the SFHQ auditorium where he met senior ground commanders and discussed the present security situation in Vanni. He also issued further instructions to his ground commanders.

  • Artillery Gun & Ninety-three Dead Tiger Cadres Found

     MULLAITTIVU: TROOPS recovered another 130mm artillery gun, used by the LTTE terrorists in a search and clear operation conducted in the newly captured area east of PUTHUKKUDIYIRUPPU. It is yet to be confirmed whether the gun was in proper use. The gun was recovered Saturday (4) morning. Troops engaged in the final phase of the battle to capture the limited area held by LTTE terrorists in PUTHUKKUDIYIRUPPU east......

  • Tigers Lose Grip on Puthukkudiyiruppu

    MULLAITTIVU: BRINGING a long fought-battle in PUTHUKKUDIYIRUPPU area to an end Army brought the whole PUTHUKKUDIYIRUPPU area under their control by Sunday (5) morning.

  • Lankans in UK Laud President for Rejecting Des Browne as Special

    THE British Government appears to be perturbed over the Sri Lankan government’s decision to disallow Des Browne, Member of Parliament for Kilmarnock and Loudoun, as a special envoy.This was clearly demonstrated in the joint statement by David Miliband, Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth and Douglas Alexander, Secretary of State for International Development on the current situation in Sri Lanka last week.The statement noted that "the appointment by the Prime Minister of my Member for Kilmarnock and Loudoun Des Browne as his Special Envoy to Sri Lanka.....

  • After Protest Campaign Ends; LTTE Supporters Attack Lankan Student in Melbourne

    A Sri Lankan student was injured in an attack by pro-LTTE activists shortly after a demonstration against LTTE atrocities by around 1,500 Sri Lankans in front of the Victorian Parliament in Melbourne yesterday morning.The student was walking to the railway station when he was set upon by the gang furious over the protest, organized by Sri Lankan students in Melbourne, which was well attended and successful.The protest started at around 10.30 am and continued peacefully until 1.30 pm. The protesters carried banners and shouted slogans demanding the LTTE to release the civilians.....
