  • Army Troops Prevent Sea Water Seeping

    ARMY troops standing up to the immediate requirements rushed to the Hamilton Canal bay mouth at Dik Owita, Lunawa and started closing it to prevent sea water coming into land this afternoon. This bay mouth had to be opened a few days due to flood levels enabling the waters to flow into the sea.

  • Ministerial Delegation Visits Kilinochchi

    ON the invitation of Secretary Defence Gotabaya Rajapaksa, a group of Ministers, MPs and Secretaries of Ministries visited Security Forces Headquarters area in Kilinochchi on 17 May 2010. They arrived at Security Forces Headquarters in Iranamadu where the Governor of Northern Province, Security Forces Commander and District Secretary Kilinochchi received them. The Security Forces Commander, briefed them on civil matters pertaining to his area, followed up by a briefing of the Governor and Secretaries to Provincial Ministries over the progress on the entire Northern Province.

  • Students at Buddy Trio Training School & AIPT Pass Out

    THE Army pays more attention to their professional training aspect now after the eradication of terrorism from the country. The Buddy Trio Training Course for Volunteer Troops was recently completed at the Buddy Trio Training School, in Mulankavil situated in the Security Forces Headquarters, Kilinochchi. It was successfully concluded and its Passing Out Parade was held on 21st May at the Training School premises.

  • Army Celebrates Vesak Commemorations

    THE annual Vesak decorations organized by Sri Sambodhi Viharaya on Gregory road, Colombo 07 were declared open a couple of hours ago on Thursday (27) evening on the first day of Vesak celebrations. These decorations, many of which have been done by the members of the Armed Forces, Police and Civil Defence Force saw Army, Navy Chiefs and Senior Air Force, Police and Civil Defence Force officers inaugurated those decorations in connection with the commencement of Vesak.
