AS PART OF its community-oriented welfare projects in the Jaffna peninsula, Army troops, following directives given by Commander, Security Forces Jaffna Major General G.A. Chandrasiri took steps to distribute fifty brand new computers among students of fifty schools in the peninsula at a special ceremony held in Telippalai Union College on Monday (7).
PRIME MINISTER Ratnasiri Wickrmanayaka yesterday told Parliament that everybody should join hands irrespective of political differences to eradicate terrorism which has become a cancerous menace to the country.
ARMY OFFICERS and other ranks serving in Jaffna recently listened to a lecture delivered by an officer of the International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC) on International Military Law and role of ICRC in conflict situations at the Transit Camp in Kankesanthure and 51 & 52 Divisions under the Security Forces Headquarters – Jaffna (SFHQ-J).

R Stephen, Colonel Nalin S De Alwis, Lt. Commander Asanka Lankathilake (Navy), Lt W. D. D. C. W Wijayapura (Navy), and Lance Corporal W. J. Wickremaratne. That was a day of mourning for this island-nation whose troops were marching forward against secessionist forces under the able guidance of the Lt. Gen Kobbekaduwa.
