POLICE YESTERDAY (29) recovered twenty rounds of T-56 ammunition and a hand grenade from a vehicle belonging to the Jaffna branch of the Human Rights Commission (HRC).
FEARING THE LTTE would use someone to smuggle in an explosive device to Parliament to carry out an assassination, the government has prohibited all members from bringing in electronic equipment into the House.
THE INDIAN Air Force (IAF) will beef up air defence around Colombo for the 15th summit of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC). An IAF team will visit Colombo soon to assess the situation before deciding on the nature of deployment.

JAFFNA : THREE MORE CIVILIANS were shot and killed at point blank range by LTTE pistol men in TEMPLE road , JAFFNA Monday (04) at about 1.40.p.m. The assassins on a motor bicycle mingling with other civilians in the area carried out this horrified act of killing during broad day light for reasons best known only to them. The JAFFNA police are conducting further investigations.
