Ammunition Found in HRC Vehicle

POLICE YESTERDAY (29) recovered twenty rounds of T-56 ammunition and a hand grenade from a vehicle belonging to the Jaffna branch of the Human Rights Commission (HRC).

FEARING THE LTTE would use someone to smuggle in an explosive device to Parliament to carry out an assassination, the government has prohibited all members from bringing in electronic equipment into the House. Acting on the instructions of security services, Speaker W. J. M. Lokubandara has informed ministers, deputy ministers and members of the unprecedented decision to prohibit laptops and similar equipment in Parliament.

A top-level US delegation, in what described as a visit of goodwill and appreciation, is to arrive in Sri Lanka to attend the graduation ceremony of the US sponsored first Mine Detection Dogs (MDD) and Mine Detection Dog handlers course, conducted for Officers and Other Ranks of the Sri Lanka Army at the Sri Lanka School of Military Engineering (SLSME) in Thunkama, Embilitpitiya on 10th June 2004

Three Civilians Shot Dead by LTTE

JAFFNA : THREE MORE CIVILIANS were shot and killed at point blank range by LTTE pistol men in TEMPLE road , JAFFNA Monday (04) at about 1.40.p.m. The assassins on a motor bicycle mingling with other civilians in the area carried out this horrified act of killing during broad day light for reasons best known only to them. The JAFFNA police are conducting further investigations.
