ARMY SEVA VANITHA SALUTES WOMEN SOLDIERS

Mrs Sonia Kottegoda, President, Army Seva Vanitha Branch, Sri Lanka Army Headquarters, in a special message to coincide with the International Women’s Day (08th March) pays a glittering tribute to all Women Soldiers in the Army who on a par with her male counterparts, contribute to the betterment of the society. LTTE PROVOKES MOBS AFTER ROAD ACCIDENT

LTTE, in what was seen as another orchestrated move to strain relations between the Security Forces and the public in Jaffna, once again went on inciting a section of mobs in the Jaffna town and its suburbs on Friday (04 March 2005) after an Army tractor caused death of a thirteen year old girl in a traffic accident near the Seylan Bank in Jaffna town.


PRESIDENT SYMPATHIZES WITH THE BEREAVED FAMILY IN JAFFNA

Her Excellency, the President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga, in a distinct show of her motherly spirit and great concern over the military accident in Jaffna last Friday (4) that brought untimely death to a thirteen-year old school girl, has donated a sum of Rs. 500,000 (US 4901 ) as compensation to her parents.

Ministry of Defence (MOD) with concurrence of the Security Forces Commander (East), the Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission (SLMM) and the LTTE has decided to keep all Entry/Exit points in Batticaloa and Ampara Districts closed for passenger traffic on a daily basis from 10.00 p.m. to 5.00 a.m. the following day.
