UN Secretary General Condemns Blasts

THE SECRETARY-GENERAL condemns the suicide attacks that occurred in Colombo, Sri Lanka - one outside the Ministry of Social Services and another in Nugegoda - which have killed and wounded dozens of civilians, according to a statement made yesterday and attributed to the United Nation\'s Secretary General\'s Spokesperson for Sri Lanka.


School renovation completed in Kanniya

Field Engineers of the Sri Lanka Army on a directive made by Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General S. H. S Kottegoda embarked on the task of repairing and renovating dilapidated buildings and toilets at Kanniya Mixed Government School, Trincomalee after the school compound and surroundings were cleared of mines.


Commander\'s dream comes true Library at Army Headquarters opened

An Army Library for Headquarters at Colombo, a much-needed pool of knowledge at easy disposal, became a reality on Thursday (4) when the Commander of the Army Lt. Gen S. H S Kottegoda walked into the Army Seva Vanitha Unit complex to declare it open amidst beating of auspicious drums and playing of conch-shells.


Drill Competition and Band display 2004

The final display of the Inter-Regiment Drill Competition 2004 got under way today (05) at the Army Headquarters Ground after best regiments were adjudged for finale during their displays that took place at the Panagoda Sri Lanka Light Infantry Regimental Centre during 15-27 September 2004. Today\'s ceremony comprising the grand band display was headed by Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Daya Sandagiri. The Army Commander, Lt Gen S. H. S Kottegoda and Air Force Commander Air Vice Marshal Donald Perera took part in the ceremony.


Governor for North-East visits Jaffna

Major General (Retd) A.K.Jayawardane, Governor for North & East with his officials arrived in Palaly on Wednesday (03) morning for a two-day visit to the Jaffna peninsula. Major General Sunil Tennakoon, Commander, Security Forces Headquarters Jaffna was at the airport to receive the Governor.
