His Excellency the President Mahinda Rajapaksa on 3rd October 2009 declared open the Sri Lankan Army 60th Anniversary exhibition at BMICH, Colombo.
President, Secretary Defence Dr. Gotabaya Rajapaksa and other distinguished guests accompanied by commander of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya visited the stalls organized by different army formations.

| Valiant troops of the Sri Lanka Armoured Corps extended their best wishes and military honours to the new Commander Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya Thursday (20) morning when he visited his Regimental Headquarters for the first time upon assumption of duties as Commander.
Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya on arrival at the Rock House Regimental Headquarters was warmly received by Major General N.A Ranasinghe, Colonel Commandant Sri Lanka Armoured Corps and conducted to inspect the Guard Turnout. Guard Turnout inspection followed the Guard of Honour, accorded to him in accordance with military traditions. |

| FIFTY more children, belonging to War Heroes who sacrificed their lives, arms and limbs to create peace in Sri Lanka were offered scholarships and gift parcels Wednesday morning (22nd July) during a brief ceremony organized by Seva Vanitha Army Branch (SVAB) at its Headquarters. The project was sponsored by Merchant Bank of Sri Lanka (MBSL) and Merchant Credit of Sri Lanka (MCSL). Each recipient to receive a monthly payment of Rs. 1000 until studies are over.
