Defence Services sports meet commenced on Thursday (19) afternoon at Sugathadasa Stadium. The meet will end on Saturday (21).

A warm welcome was extended to Air Chief Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman, Chief of the Air Staff Pakistan Air Force at the Army Headquarters (AHQ) Colombo this morning (14) when he visited Army Headquarters to meet Commander of Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya.

Sri Lanka Army troops presently well geared up to contributing to the government's "Uthuru Wasanthaya" (Northern Spring) development programme received further teeth on Wednesday (28) when the government released a new stock of modern machinery and equipment to the Army for use in development work in the north.

THE Army Tattoo is the final phase, event organized in connection with the Army 60th Anniversary celebrations. It was ceremoniously declared open Saturday (17) evening at Kettarama stadium by His Excellency the President Mahinda Rajapaksa on the invitation of Chief of Defence Staff General Sarath Fonseka and Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya.
