Sri Lanka Army in fact made history on Tuesday (9), as the cream of Jaffna society including Jaffna Bishop, Chief Hindu and Buddhist Priests, High Court Judges, District and Divisional Secretaries, Vice Chancellor at Jaffna University, Mayor and Provincial Councillors, Senior Administrators and a host of other religious and civil dignitaries assembled under one roof to join Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya in opening this first-ever twenty-four seven open Civil Affairs and Public Relations Office, giving pride of place to Hindu religious rites and rituals.

The 62nd National Day of Mother Sri Lanka was held Thursday (February 4) at the sacred Mahamaluwa area of the Sri Dalada Maligawa, Kandy the royal kingdom of the yesteryear with majesty and grandeur giving pride of place to Tri-services and the Police.

The ceremonial passing out parade of 229 Officer Cadets of regular intake 66 B, short commission intake 17, volunteer intake 47, volunteer lady intake 8, direct enlisted intake DE/2009 and regular intake 66 at the pioneering Sri Lanka Military Academy (SLMA) at Diyatalawa occurred Sunday (17) attended by Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya as Chief Guest.
