KILINOCHCHI town, the LTTE's yesteryear office Headquarters that pumped its fighters and resources to the whole of North and East, and internationalized its entire terror machine, was rejuvenated on Thursday (6), as a town of key importance in post-war Sri Lanka after a symbol of eternal peace and valour, dedicated for the memory of fallen War Heroes and all peace-loving Sri Lankans was bestowed upon it.

Immortalizing memories of the fierce gun battles, fought by valiant War Heroes at the strategic Elephant Pass, a special War Hero Memorial, erected in honour of fallen War Heroes, was ceremonially unveiled by Secretary Defence Mr Gotabaya Rajapaksa Friday (30) morning, amidst a pantheon of military chiefs, including Chief of Defence Staff, Commander of the Army and Commander of the Navy.

Valiant War Heroes who brought peace to Sri Lanka at the expense of their limbs and organs, but still under rehabilitation at Ragama Ranaviru Sevana had a thrilling experience during a New Year celebration on Tuesday (27) with their Commander, Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya who graced the occasion as Chief Guest.

The symbolic presentation of permanent appointment letters to members of the civil staff in the Army occurred on Friday (23) at Army Headquarters under the auspices of Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya Commander of the Army.

A total of 3500 members of the civil staff serving in the sphere of cooking, cleaning and minor-staff duties who hitherto remained as casual labourers and employees in the Army were to accordingly receive permanency in their jobs with pension rights.
