The newly-appointed General Officer Commanding (GOC) for the 59 Division Brigadier N.D Wanniaarachchi on Thursday (4) assumed duties during a brief ceremony at the 59 Division Headquarters of the Security Force Headquarters - Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT).
The new GOC placed his signature for a formal document, signifying the acceptance of his office at the 59 Division Hqrs.
A formal Guard Turnout and a Guard of Honour greeted Brigadier Wanniaarachchi upon his arrival at the 59 Division Headquarters premises in keeping with military traditions.
Several senior officers of the 59 Division also attended the occasion.
