‘Ranaviru Real Star - Mission V’, the world’s one and only reality show of the Armed Forces, showcasing inalienable musical talents of the War Heroes, was launched with a new dimension in an event held at Hotel Ramada on Friday(17) evening.
Mr. B.M.U.D. Basnayake, Secretary to the Ministry of Defence graced the event as the Chief Guest.
During the event, the final 36 contenders who have qualified to compete in the reality show were introduced to the gathering.
The final 36 contenders, comprised of 22 Army personnel, 9 Navy personnel and 05 Air Force personnel, showcased their talents, together with several leading singers in the country, in front of the gathering.
The TV transmissions of the reality show will begin from 14 August onwards on Rupavahini and all arrangements are made for the finals which is scheduled to be held in December.
Under the directions of HE the President and organized by the Ministry of Defence, the Ranaviru Real Star, intent on extracting singing talents of tri-servicemen while exposing them for promotion of aesthetic values, is widely acclaimed as the country’s most watched reality programme. The project, considered a tribute, dedicated to the priceless services of Army, Navy and Air Force personnel has so far produced a number of talented servicemen under four programmes.
Air Chief Marshal Kolitha Gunatilleke, Chief of Defence Staff, Lieutenant General Crishanthe De Silva, Commander of the Army, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne, Commander of the Navy, Air Marshal Gagan Bulathsinhala, Commander of the Air Force, Dr. Somarathna Dissanayake, Chairman, Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation, Dr. Hans Wijesuriya, Chief Executive Officer Dialog Axiata, the main sponsor of the programme and a few distinguished invitees, attended the occasion.
