A Guard Turn Out and a Guard of Honour saluted the outgoing Major General A.M. Perera in accordance with military traditions to mark the relinquishment of his appointment as Commander, Security Force Headquarters – Central (SFHQ- C) during a formal farewell, held at the SFHQ- C premises on Thursday (26).
Troops of 7 Sri Lanka Signal Corps presented the Guard of Honour parade at the parade square at SFHQ- C to bid farewell to the outgoing Commander SFHQ-C while all officers of the SFHQ-C, General Officer Commanding of the 12 Division and Brigade Commanders of 111, 112, 121, and 122 Brigades were present to witness the event.
Senior Army officers including General Officers Commanding, Brigade Commanders and several other officers and other ranks attended the farewell ceremony.
Addressing the troops of the SFHQ-C, Major General Mano Perera thanked all ranks for generous assistance and support extended to him during his tenure.
In the meantime, he was accorded two separate Guard Turnouts earlier during his final visits to 11 and 12 Divisions.
He was received on arrival at the 11 Division Headquarters by Major General D.N.S.K Senadheera GOC 11 Division and troops of the 5(V) Sri Lanka Light Infantry presented the Guard Turnouts at the entrances.
Meanwhile, Brigadier W.A.N.M Weerasinghe, GOC of the 12 Division received the outgoing Commander, SFHQ-C on his arrival at the 12 Division Headquarters before he reviewed the Guard Turn Out from 16 Gajaba Regiment at the entrance to the Division Headquarters in Pallekele.
Before his departure, he was presented with mementos as a formality towards the end of the day’s event by GOCs of both Divisions.
