Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake, Commander of the Army in accordance with military formalities, paid a courtesy call on the new Hon. Minister of State for Defence Mr Ruwan Wijewardene at the Ministry of Defence this morning (19).
Lieutenant General Ratnayake after presenting a replica of a silver-plated sword, symbolic of the Army and its bravery, wished him good luck with his new office and assured the support of the Army for maintenance of peace and stability in the country.
Hon. Minister in return thanked the Commander of the Army for his commitment to the country and expressed his willingness to work closely with him.
