Defence Attaché Assures Support for Conduct of French Language Courses

The two newly-appointed Defence Attachés from Bangladesh and France paid separate courtesy calls on the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake Wednesday (15) morning at the Army Headquarters.

Commodore Shah Aslam Parvez, Defence Attaché for High Commission of Bangladesh and Commander Loic Bizot, Defence Attaché (Non Resident) for Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Maldives, were the two diplomats who met the Commander.

During the Commander’s interaction with the French envoy, the Commander requested him to explore possibilities of conducting French language courses for officers in the Army, considering the popularity of the language and devise mechanisms to sustain closer relations between both armies in the long run.

In response, the French envoy assured the Commander of his support for conduct of such language lessons through the language wing of the embassy, Alliance Francaise Colombo, the foremost teaching centre for French language and the culture in Sri Lanka.

Towards the end of courtesy calls, exchange of mementos took place separately before they took leave of the Commander.
