Commander Inquires into Wellbeing of New Volunteer Force Professionals Under Training


On his way back from Nuwara Eliya after opening the first of its kind, High Altitude Training Centre atop Pidurutalaga for long running practices, Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake, Commander of the Army made a surprise visit to the Sri Lanka Military Academy Friday (15) evening in order to inquire into the well-being of newly recruited professionals of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF) now under training.

Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake spoke to them at the auditorium and shared a couple of thoughts with them before he suddenly moved into their dormitories with a view to finding their accommodation and later on he inspected the kitchen where food is prepared for them. One of them thanking the Commander for his concern presented him with a memento at the same location. He was also invited to plant a tree sapling in the premises as a token of memory of his visit to the place.

Afterwards, the Commander at the invitation of the Sri Lanka Armoured Corps (SLAC), declared opened the new General's Bungalow constructed at the Diyatalawa garrison town. Major General Milinda Peiris, Colonel Commandant, SLAC welcomed the Commander and ushered him to unveil a plaque and open the new bungalow.
