Intended to further promote understanding among communities of different ethnicities, the Security Force Headquarters - East (SFHQ-E) organized a cricket tournament at Addalchenai Public Stadium on Tuesday (29).
Cricket teams of more than 10 Muslim, Tamil and Sinhala schools in Kalmunai and Ampara areas and Provincial Cricket Clubs, took part in the tournament and competed for supremacy.
In the inter school matches, Kalmunai Zahira College and Akkaraipattu Kalleiwattam Sports Club emerged champions in the tournament which was witnessed by a large crowd.
On the final day, Major General Lal Perera, Commander, SFHQ-E as the Chief Guest, together with the General Officer Commanding, 24 Division attended the event and gave away trophies and awards.
