Following concerns and instructions of the Commander of the Army, the programme was sponsored by the Starkey Hearing Aids of the United States with the coordination of Sri Lanka Army and Synergen Health (Pvt) Ltd of Nugegoda and expects to spread the humanitarian service to other areas as well.

During these two days, a fair number of Army personnel serving the SFHQ-W and their family members sought assistance of this programme in order to seek hearing aids and other consultations from the programme sponsors.

In addition 463 Sinhala, Tamil and Muslim civilians in the Wanni area were selected to receive these aids in the future.

Meanwhile, a similar selection project for award of those hearing aids of the same sponsors to both civilians and military personnel in the Jaffna peninsula, took place during June 9-10 at the Civil - Military Coordination Office in Jaffna.

This screening programme was also supported by 4 Sri Lanka Army Medical Corps (SLAMC) at Palaly and medical officers at Palaly Military Hospital. Messrs Akil Vavuhan, Sai Kiran Sathyanarayana of Starkey Hearing Aids and Mr Denver Fernando, Director, Synergen Health (Pvt) Ltd actively took part in the programme and supported it.
