Culinary Skills of Army Personnel to be Showcased

A meeting for coordination of different tasks and roles in the forthcoming Exhibition of Culinary Skills of Army personnel, scheduled  in Nuwara Eliya, in parallel with the annual ‘Wasantha Udanaya’ season during April 15 - 22, took place at Nuwara Eliya Hotel Alpine on Tuesday (4), headed by Major General U.A.B Medawela, Commander, Security Force Headquarters - Central (SFHQ-C).

The Exhibition, a novel project, proposed by Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake, Commander of the Army, is to display varieties of traditional, modern and nutritious foods, generally consumed by people in Sri Lanka and the troops in their respective duty point areas across the country.

The objective of the planned project is to showcase Army skills in cookery, resurrect fast disappearing food varieties, educate the public on traditional food varieties and analyze qualitative ingredients in foods, etc with the cooperation of nutritionists and cooks through practical demonstrations during the New Year season.

The meeting, attended by senior officers of the Directorate of Army Welfare, Group General Manager of Army-owned ‘Laya’ Hotel chain, General Officer Commanding, 11 Division, Nuwara Eliya UDA officials, discussed different modalities and other relevant issues of the new project.
