Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake, Commander of the Army on Monday (20) arrived in Kuliyapitiya with the intention of inspecting how Army arrangements are in progress as regards the forthcoming ‘Deyata Kirula-2014’ mega exhibition.

Sri Lanka Army, as is the practice in previous years, is to put up more than 22 exhibition stalls in the Kuliyapitiya Technical School ground, allotted solely to the Army by the organizers of the mega exhibition. The Army exhibits have remained huge crowd-pullers in the past few years.

Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake during a briefing met with the senior officers in charge of the exhibition site and received a comprehensive understanding over the erection of Army stalls there after perusing each segment of the proposed structural plan which is fast nearing completion.

The Commander instructed senior officers to provide troops at work there with all facilities, including board and lodging.

The visiting Commander, accompanied by several senior officers including the Army Adjutant General Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe, Security Force Commander - West Major General A.K.S Perera, 53 Division General Officer Commanding, Major General Maithri Dias, took time off to inspect several partly completed exhibition stalls and inquired into different aspects of the proposed placement of exhibits, giving necessary instructions and directions.

During the site inspection, the Commander visited several stalls under construction and saw for himself how visitors are to be facilitated with the least inconvenience in all Army exhibition stalls.

‘Deyata Kirula’ mirrors government development schemes, agricultural, environmental, scientific, commercial and other multi-faceted nation building projects being pursued in every corner of the Island.

In the meantime, Engineer Service Regiment (ESR) troops are giving final touches to Kegalle-bound Captain Dawson Bungalow before the Annual Independence Day celebration on February (4).

Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake on his way to Colombo inspected the ongoing work at the bungalow and gave necessary instructions to the troops after evaluating the repairs.
