The world-class Army-produced Wushu player, Corporal W.L Gunasekara of 12 Battalion Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR), who secured a Bronze medal at the recent 12th World Wushu Championship, was felicitated at a ceremony, held on Saturday (14) at the SLSR Regimental Headquarters, Ambepussa.
This felicitation ceremony, arranged on the instructions of Major General Boniface Perera , Colonel of the Regiment, SLSR, saw the Wushu player who made the SLSR proud, present with a cash gift of Rs 300,000/= to be utilized for further development of his martial arts skills.
Corporal W.L Gunasekara of 12 Battalion SLSR has so far won Gold medals (nationals) (Turkey), (Defence Services) and several other tournaments. He has also been chosen for 2011/2012 Army Colours.
Senior Officers, Officers and Other ranks joined with the Colonel of the Regiment to wish him good luck and share the joy of hard- earned success in the world event.
