A series of anniversary events are in place to mark the 17th anniversary of the 55 Division Headquarters at Wettalakerny, Jaffna.
The anniversary programmes, organized on the directions of Brigadier B.H.M.A Wijesinghe, General Officer Commanding, 55 Division began on Saturday (7) with a blood donation campaign at the 55 Division Headquarters.
A 11-member medical team of the Jaffna Teaching Hospital conducted the mobile clinic at the request of the 55 Division Headquarters.
Over 165 officers and other ranks donated blood for the benefit of inmates at Jaffna Teaching Hospital during the clinic.
Medical officers thanked the Army for its timely thoughtfulness since the Jaffna Hospital is in acute shortage of blood for conduct of surgical operations right at the moment.
