Pre-school Project at Veheratenna Gets Underway

Veheratenna, the village, resettled by former displaced civilians in Vavuniya is fast developing, following initiatives taken by the 62 Division Headquarters of the Security Force Headquarters - Wanni (SFHQ-W).

With the financial support of world-famous Sri Lankan cricketer, Roshan Mahanama, now a renowned umpire, two sections of the proposed Ekamuthu pre-school building at Veheratenna are to be built at first with the help of Hemas Outreach Foundation.

On Saturday (16), Major General Boniface Perera, Commander, SFHQ-W during a simple ceremony laid the foundation stone ceremony for construction of these two sections at the specific place.

On the same occasion, Hon Minister Tissa Karaliyadda (MP) gave away agreement papers for supply of equipment and accessories, needed for kids in the pre-school to one of the teachers appointed for the project.

The inaugural ceremony, attended by Mr Roshan Mahanama, Ms Moreen and Ms Shiromi Masakorala, CEO of Hemas Outreach Foundation, senior officers, parents, kids, teachers and a large gathering of villagers, preceded religious ceremonies. The project is to cost 1.25 million and will facilitate more than 100 pre-school kids once the construction is completed.
