Sacrifices of One More Batch of SLLI War Heroes Recognized Awarding 'RSP' Medal


One more batch of 1016 Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) War Heroes, out of a total of 2254 SLLI War Heroes, eligible for receipt of the prestigious ‘Rana Sura Padakkama’ (RSP) Medal, having risked their lives during Humanitarian Operations (2006 - 2009) were felicitated at Panagoda Army Gymnasium on Tuesday (22), awarding the medal, amidst a gathering of senior officers.

Major General K.A.D.A Karunasekara, Colonel of the Regiment, SLLI as the Chief Guest, together with Major General W.D.L.P Wickramasinghe, Deputy Commandant, Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force, inaugurated award of those medals in the glittering ceremony, attended by a large gathering of senior SLLI officers.

Next of kin of 201 fallen War Heroes and 25 retired War Heroes of the SLLI, together with 790 serving War Heroes symbolically received these medals from the Chief Guest and other invitees on the occasion.
