Special Infantry Operations Team (SIOT) Passing Out Parade Held

The passing out parade of special Infantry Operation Team, Course No 47 was held at Combat Training School (CTS) Ampara on Tuesday (15). Major General L W C B B Rajaguru, Director General Infantry took the salute as the chief Guest of the event. This is a specialized training, meant only for Regular Infantry Battalions organized by Security Forces Headquarters under the direction of the Directorate of Infantry.

16 officers and 99 other rankers passed out after training for more than 06 months, concluded at CTS Ampara after following the Tactics Leg.

Director General Infantry along with Commandant, CTS Brigadier Sena Waduge and Lieutenant Colonel Senaka Kasthurimudali, Commanding Officer, pinned the qualification badges to the successful students. During his speech Director General Infantry emphasized the importance of SIOT training.

SIOT troops did a commendable service for the success of humanitarian operations in which 46 officers and 380 men sacrificed life for the motherland whilst 26 officers and 465 other rankers were severely wounded. So far 386 officers and 5956 other rankers had undergone SIOT training. 04 such courses are held every year.
