With the objective of enhancing the mutual understanding, values, attitudes and inter-relationship in a multi-cultural, religious and a multi-ethnic society a Sinhala and Tamil New Year festival was conducted by the soldiers of 61 Division under the guidance of Brigadier D.M.W.W.W.M.R.B.M. Daulagala, General Officer Commanding 61 Division recently (6) at the 61 Division sports ground.
The day’s itinerary was filled with Sinhala and Tamil traditional events, followed by a musical show in the evening which drew a huge crowd. Security Force Commander (Wanni) Major General Boniface Perera graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
