Security Forces Headquarters - Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN) conducted a series of community-oriented projects in the area in connection with the Army Day (October 10) and 63rd Army Anniversary.
The climax of the ceremonies took place on Wednesday (10) with a military parade at SFHQ-KLN premises where the Army Commander’s message was read out before commencement of a tree sapling planting drive inside the premises. Soon after the Kilinochchi Commander addressed the troops as a formality, all soldiers, officers and civil staff joined together for a collective lunch.
To mark the anniversary event, the SFHQ-KLN held a cricket tournament among 24 teams, comprised of tri service and Police personnel and several civil sector clubs. 2 Commando Regiment secured the championship in the final encounter beating 4 Sri Lanka Armoured Corps team.
Award of shields and colours was done by Major General Udaya Perera, Commander, SFHQ-KLN and several other senior officers.
