SF Troops in Vavuniya Recall Memories of Fallen Fellow-Soldiers

Fellow-soldiers of the elite Special Forces (SF) in the Army recently saluted the memory of their workmates who perished during Wanni battles by erecting a special monumental plaque at Vavuniya SF Brigade Headquarters.

Special Forces, who produced a fine blend of officers like late Colonel A.F Lafir, Lieutenant Colonel Lalith Jayasinghe, Major K.A Gamage, Sergeant Chandrasiri Bandara and Corporal K.G.W Chandana, engraved those names in the plaque that was opened by the Chief Guest Major General K.J Alwis, Colonel of the Special Forces Regiment at the invitation of the Brigade Commander.

On the same occasion, SF troops presented a Guard Turn Out plus a Guard of Honour to Major General K.J Alwis upon his arrival at the Brigade Headquarters.

Minutes before the opening of the special plaque, the visiting Colonel of the Regiment placed a tray of flowers before the Buddha statue at the new shrine room which was also opened by the Chief Guest on the same occasion.
