SLEME Colours Night Felicitates Outstanding Performers on Grand Scale

Officers and Soldiers serving the Sri Lanka Electrical Mechanical Engineers (SLEME) Regiment of the Army on Sunday (18) night refreshed their memories and received their laurels for their achievements from the Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

Everything was set at Colombo Bishop College by 7.00 p.m. as invitees one by one walked in to take their designated seats for the "Colors Night'  before the arrival of the Chief Guest at the invitation of the Colonel Commandant of the SLEME Regiment, Major General A.L.R Wijetunge.
   
Soon after formal military traditions including a tribute to the memory of fallen SLEME War Heroes were over, the stage was set to give away Colours for Athletes, Body Builders and Weightlifters who did exceptionally well in 2010 and 2011. Second, third, fourth and fifth segments in the agenda were respectively reserved for distribution of awards to outstanding sportsmen in the fields of Wrestling, Karate, Boxing, Judo, Baseball, Squash, Badminton, Cycling, Rugby, Motor Racing and those excelled in Defence Services games and qualified to receive Army colours.

The climax of the "Colours Night" kicked off as distribution of Special SLEME awards, " Golden Stallion Awards" and for "Outstanding Performances" was announced to a thundering applause. The Chief Guest  presented those mementos and trophies to those winners at the invitation of the SLEME. The ceremony also saw Senior SLEME sportsmen were honoured by the Army Chief at the same occasion in appreciation of their contribution to the SLEME field of sports in the past.
