25 Doctors Treat Pooneryn Civilians

A record 598 civilians in Pooneryn area sought medical assistance from an Army-organized medical clinic on Friday (15), attended by 25 medical officers and 72 assistants.

66 Division troops under Security Forces Headquarters, Kilinochchi took the initiative in organizing this one-day medical clinic as part of the Army’s humanitarian assistance for improvement of health among civilians resident in those areas.

Brigadier K.A.C.H Kodithuwakku, General Officer Commanding, 66 Division collected the medical team and a stock of medicine, as recommended by Dr P. Karthikeyan, Head of the Medical Team. Brief religious rituals inaugurated the day’s agenda in accordance with Hindu traditions. 

Those civilians attending the clinic were provided with refreshments. Some of those diagnosed patients were referred to peripheral and area hospitals for further consultations and examinations.
