Commander Pays a Surprise Visit to Suriyawewa Cricket Stadium to See Army's Construction Role

The Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya, now in Kataragama area, attending to the eleventh hour arrangements, related to Army’s role at the National Independence Day parade and the ‘Deyata Kiruala’ Exhibition site, paid a surprise visit to the construction site of the Suriyawewa International Cricket Stadium Wednesday (02) morning with a view to assessing the work being carried out by the Army’s Corps of Engineer Services (CES).

Lieutenant General Jayasuriya accompanied by Major General S. W. L. Daulagala and a few senior officers, responsible for the Army’s segment at the stadium inspected the CES work in the complex. During the inspection tour, Lieutenant General Jayasuriya gave necessary directions and instructed the officers to maintain a high level of standard, expected of an International Stadium in all construction work entrusted to the Army and insisted that the quality should not be sacrificed at any cost.

Sri Lanka Army carries on with some construction work at Suriyawewa International Cricket Stadium as it did previously with the Diyagama Mahinda Rajapaksa Stadium.
