New Navy Commander Pays Courtesy Call on Army Commander

The newly appointed 17th Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy Vice Admiral D. W. A. S. Dissanayake WV, RSP, VSV, USP, ndc paid a courtesy call on the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya Tuesday (18), a few hours after he met the Secretary Defence Mr. Gotabaya Rajapaksa at the Ministry of Defence.

Vice Admiral Dissanayake on arrival at the Army Headquarters inspected the Guard Turn Out in accordance with military traditions and received the Guard of Honour salute, accorded by soldiers of the Sri Lanka Armoured Corps.

At the entrance to the Commander’s Secretariat, Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya, Commander of the Army received the visiting new Navy Commander Vice Admiral Dissanayake who was afterwards introduced to the Principal Staff Officers in the Army. 

Vice Admiral Dissanayake and his Army counterpart, Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya later on had a formal meeting at the Army Commander’s Office. They both recalled close cooperation prevailing between both Army and Navy personnel in different spheres of duties and responsibilities. Both of them also discussed matters of mutual concern to them during this courtesy call. Towards the end of the meet, both of them exchanged mementoes to signify the importance of the day’s meeting.
