The Outgoing Navy Commander Pays Courtesy Call on His Army Counterpart

The outgoing Commander of the Navy Admiral T.S.G.  Samarasinghe Friday (14) morning, paid a courtesy call on Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya on the eve of his farewell from the Navy.

Admiral T.S.G. Samarasinghe at the entrance to the Army Headquarters complex inspected the Guard Turnout after he was warmly welcomed. The visiting Navy Commander afterwards received the salute of the Guard of Honour, accorded to him by Sri Lanka Army Signal Corps troops.

On his arrival at the entry to the Commander’s Secretariat, principal staff officers in the Army greeted him and were introduced to him in accordance with military traditions before he was conducted to the Commander’s office.

Admiral T.S.G. Samarasinghe during his brief meeting with the Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya recalled the gestures of goodwill that took place while he was serving the office of the Navy Commander.

Lieutenant General Jayasuriya towards the end of the interaction presented his outgoing Navy counterpart with a special memento as a token of goodwill of the Army. The visiting Commander reciprocated and left his complimentary notes on the VIP book at the Commander’s office before his departure. 

Vice Admiral T.S.G. Samarasinghe was appointed Commander of the Navy on July 15th 2009 and was promoted to the rank of Admiral a few days back. He joined the Sri Lanka Navy in 1974 as an Officer Cadet.
