'Viru Kekulu' Kids Display Skills in Annual Concert

Kids from the Seva Vanitha Army Branch (SVAB) managed Panagoda ‘Viru Kekulu’, Manning Town ‘Viru Kekulu’ pre-schools and ‘Senehasa’ pre-school for children with special needs, had their annual concert that showcased their skills and artistic talents at Colombo 3, Mahanama College auditorium Friday (15) evening. 

First Lady Mrs Shiranthi Rajapaksa, Chief Guest and Mrs Ioma Rajapaksa, President, Ministry of Defence Seva Vanitha Unit as Guest of Honour, at the invitation of Mrs Manjulika Jayasuriya, President, SVAB, graced the occasion, attended by a large gathering of presidents of all regimental Seva Vanitha Units, kids, parents, invitees, members of the tutorial and administrative staff.

Mrs Shiranthi Rajapaksa and Mrs Ioma Rajapaksa on arrival at the venue were warmly received by kids and Mrs Manjulika Jayasuriya, offering bouquets of flowers. The concert got underway after the welcome speech and the school song, presented by toddlers.

In both Panagoda and Manning Town pre-schools, a total of 202 kids, belonging to Ranaviru (War Heroes) families are presently learning with the intention of receiving a sound educational foundation, based on character building values. Teaching systems at these pre-schools have also been modified in accordance with latest educational trends and techniques, placing greater interest in inborn qualities of those kids.          

Friday (15) evening’s concert, replete with dancing features, Sinhala and English drama and song presentations, band displays, peacock dances, Christmas carols, fun-making items and many other entertaining varieties, attracted both invitees and children. Multi-coloured costumes and other decorative features added elegance to the occasion as thundering applause encouraged the students. A large collection of colourful drawings and creative works were also on display during the ceremony.

 These kids were also awarded gift parcels and other incentives and the end of the concert towards the conclusion of the day’s proceedings.
