CTS Invokes Blessings on the Army

THE STAFF at Ampara Combat Training School (CTS), on the instructions of its Commandant recently conducted a day of religious observances in order to invoke blessings on President Mahinda Rajapaksa, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya, Commander of the Army, all members of the Army and the country.

The day’s programme included Dhamma sermons, Meditation practices, Offer of Alms and Gilanpasa to Lord Buddha and Buddhist monks, Pirith chanting, Dhamma discussions, etc. Ven. Gnanadhamma Thera at Moneragala Maha Mevuna Meditation Centre conducted the day’s programme with the participation of hundreds of trainees at the CTS. The arrangement took place by the side of the boat yard at the CTS. Colonel K.D.C.G.J Thilakaratne, Commandant, CTS and several senior officers attended the religious rites and observances. 

Meanwhile, just two days prior to the religious observances, the CTS staff organized a blood donation campaign on a request made by health authorities at Ampara General Hospital. The event coincided with the ‘School Day’.

Over 102 officers and other ranks donated blood on the occasion and two Medical Officers, Dr Rohitha Kumarasiri and Dr Janaka Hewavitharana at Ampara Hospital Blood Bank provided their services to the arrangement.
