INTERNALLY DISPLACED PERSONS (IDP) in Vavuniya, Mannar, Welioya and other areas were given permission from Tuesday (1) onwards to move about freely outside those Welfare Centres and return after sometime.
Civil authorities with the cooperation of Army and Police personnel facilitated this new procedure in accordance with security procedures. Those displaced civilians, depending on their specific requirements are permitted to either visit any places or their next of kin outside those Welfare Centres and return to their Welfare Centres.
Latest reports said 5316 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) went out from the welfare centers in Vavuniya to visit their relatives and friends from morning till evening on Thursday (3).
