THE SIXTH Police Station established in the Mannar District after liberating the area from the LTTE was declared open in Nachchikuda on Saturday (20).
Senior Deputy Inspector General Nimal Lewke unveiled the plaque of the new Police Station and declared it opened.
Silawathura, Madhu, Vedattalativu, Illuppukaddavai and Mulangavil were the other Police Stations to commence their operations shortly after the Wanni humanitarian operations were over.
At the opening ceremony, Commander 615 Brigade Colonel Athula Galagamage briefed the participants on the present security situation in the area.
A large crowd, including the Chief Incumbent of Mannar Buddhist temple Rev. Vimalarathana Thero and Senior Police Officers in the area were present at the ceremony.
