    Colonel I.G.R.G Bogodawatte assumed duties as the new Commandant of the Mihindu Seth Medura (MSM) wellness resort at Atttidiya on 07 September during a simple ceremony. A brief religious ceremony invoked blessings on the new office of Colonel I.G.R.G Bogodawatte who symbolically placed his signature for a formal document to signify the acceptance of the office.

  • 9 SLNG troops Donate Water Pumping Scheme to Inuvil School

    9 Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) troops serving Inuvil area in Jaffna with the support of donors from the South recently installed a water pumping scheme in the Puthumadam Roman Catholic Primary School premises as a token of goodwill and understanding. Hundreds of school children before the installation of the water pump used to quench their thirst drawing water from a deep well in the compound.

    FORMER Commander of the Army General Sarath Fonseka, Now the new Chief of Defence Staff  (CDS) assumed duties in his office at the Joint Operations Headquarters (JOH) Wednesday (15) morning. New CDS, after inspecting the Guard Turnout, received the salute given in front of the JOH and received a tri-service Guard of Honour. The outgoing CDS Air Chief Marshal Donald Perera, in the company of Army, Navy and Air Force commanders and the Inspector General of Police, thereafter welcomed General Sarath Fonseka at the entrance to the JOH and accompanied .....

  • Tamil Recruits in Mullaittivu Tour South


    A team of 46 Tamil recruits now under training at 6 Sri Lanka Army Service Corps (SLASC) camp under the Security Force Headquarters-Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT), were taken on a four-day (Sept 16 - 19) familiarization tour with a view to imparting knowledge on places of historic and tourist importance in the South.   • New Therapy Center for Disable War Heroes in the Offing

    A PRELIMINARY round of discussion to explore possibilities of promoting mental and physical well-being of the physically-handicapped War Heroes affected by terrorism was recently held at Army Headquarters auditorium, chaired by Mrs. Manjulika Jayasuriya, President, Seva Vanitha Army Branch (SVAB). The meeting focused on provision of possible residential therapy and treatment to those War Heroes who need close attention, psychological guidance and counseling while strengthening relations among their next of kin.
