  • COMMANDER'S ARMY DAY ADDRESS AT ARMY HEADQUARTERS

    AS the Sri Lanka Army’ 19th Commander, I am very pleased and delighted to address you at a time the Army, composed of brave War Heroes celebrates its 60th Anniversary with pride and dignity after evicting LTTE terrorism  and bringing freedom to the motherland which brought surprise to the entire world. Had our War Heroes with the support of other Armed Forces failed to destroy Prabhakaran, it is needless to say the country’s future would have been a critical one as you can understand.

  • SVAB Gives Away ESR Donated Medical Bed to Military Hospital


    Mrs. Damayanthi Ratnayake, President, Seva Vanitha Army Branch (SVAB) on Monday (30) gave away a medical bed for the use of patients at Military Hospital with sponsorship, provided by the Engineer Service Regiment (ESR) Seva Vanitha Unit. During the SVAB’s recent visit to the ‘Rana Viru Sevana’ at Ragama, this bed was donated to the SVAB.....
     
  • 56 Division Makes Elaborate Vesak Arrangements with Civilians

     
    Special corriander water and gram serving ‘Dansel’ (free eating houses), display of colourful Vesak lanterns, recital of devotional songs, multi-coloured decorations and several other programmes, organized in the 56 Division Headquarters, Kokeliya, Vavuniya, adorned Vavuniya city and its suburbs, following initiatives taken by 56 Division Headquarters on account of Vesak.
     
  • Troops & Civilians Join Blood Donation


    Troops, attached to 21 Division under Security Forces Headquarters - Wanni (SFHQ-W) recently organized a blood donation campaign at Anuradhapura Home for Ailing Monks in Maliyadewa Mawatha. More than 200 soldiers and civilians joined together and gave blood on the occasion. The project is one of the many welfare programmes, organized by the troops in Anuradhapura area. More than 25 officers also donated blood at the same venue.  
  • 114-Special Telephone Number For Colombo Security

    THE PUBLIC are requested to use the telephone facility 114 if they need to inform the Security Forces of any suspicious items or parcels or activity that would affect peace within city limits in Colombo or in the suburbs. Such information will be treated highly confidential, the Army Headquarters announced.

  • 5 SLA Troops Conduct Humanitarian Assistance Programmes


    Troops, belonging to 5 Sri Lanka Artillery (SLA) Regiment serving Thopur area of the Security Force Headquarters - East (SFHQ - E),  organized distribution of school items  for 74  students of low-income group families at Dehiwatta School and  86 Students  of  Venayur Central College.

    The ‘Sammabimani’ spiritual programme, conducted by Ven Uduwe Dhammaloka Thera, meant to enhance moral development of the general public, got underway at Prathiba Hall, Manampitiya in Polonnaruwa on Tuesday (9).   • Wanni Students Get Schols & More Accessories


    50 Wanni-based school students received books and school accessories, together with 31 scholarships, each worth Rs 2000/= during a ceremony, organized by 61 Division Headquarters at Maravankulam Vidyalaya in Vavuniya on November (28). Those items, donated by generous donors, following coordination done by the 61 Division on the instructions of the Security Forces Headquarters, Wanni (SFHQ-W)....
