  • Army Organizes Dental Clinic and Workshop for Jaffna Students


    521 Brigade in Jaffna in association with the Dental Medical Authorities organized a Dental clinic and workshop for students in the area on Tuesday (12). The clinic organized under the guidance of the General Officer Commanding 52 Division Brigadier W. V. A. Sudasinghe and 521 Brigade Commander Colonel D. M. T. B. Dissanayake was held through out the day at Nelliadi Central College.
  • Inter-battalion Sports Tournament Held at Mullaittivu


    The inter-battalion sports tournament of the Security Force Headquarters-Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT) that got underway early in February, had its final events and awarding ceremony on Sunday (14) at the Oddusuddan Maha Vidyalayam playground. Major General Jagath Dias, Commander, Security Force Headquarters - Mullaittivu graced the final event as the Chief Guest. 

  • New Year Festival at SFHQ-W Held


    Troops of the Security Force Headquarters-Wanni (SFHQ-W) conducted their Sinhala and Tamil New Year festival at the SFHQ-W grounds on Saturday (25) on a grand scale. Major General Boniface Perera, Commander, SFHQ-W graced the cheerful event as the Chief Guest where many varieties of traditional games and fun-making features, added excitement and interest to the spectators.

    JAFFNA: DISTRICT Secretary for JAFFNA Mr. K. GANESH categorically denies having requested “any immediate assistance from JAFFNA NGOs to help meet basic needs of VANNI people” arriving in JAFFNA for temporary housing. Mr. K. GANESH speaking to www.army.lk asserted that JAFFNA does not have any such “detention centres for fleeing WANNI civilians,” but twelve Welfare Centres where as of Friday (24) some 11,500 displaced civilians remain housed.“We have enough stocks and situation in those Welfare Centres is good. I have not spoken to any specific NGO as such.....

  • ARMY TO CONDUCT THE FIRST EVER JOINT FIELD TRAINING EXERCISE

    The ‘Ex-Cormorants Strike’, the first-ever nine-day long joint exercise in the history of Sri Lanka Army and armed forces is to be commenced on 21st November with the participation of over 2500 troops, drawn from the Army, Navy and Air Force. Under the auspices of Secretary Defence Mr Gotabaya Rajapaksa, the exercise of this magnitude, the brainchild of the Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya is to be conducted in areas spanning from Silawathura, Mannar to Mavillu in Thanthirimale, Anuradhapura.
