  • Kilinochchi Based Troops Receive Training on Gherkin Cultivation

    Security Force Headquarters-Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN), together with Hayleys Pvt Ltd organized one-day workshop for Army personnel serving in different Battalions, Brigades and Divisions in SFHQ-KLN on Gherkin cultivation in the areas following an initiative of Major General Sudantha Ranasinghe, Commander, SFHQ-KLN.The main intention of the awareness programme is to provide knowledge to Army personnel for motivation of civilians in the area so that they could make a living.
  • SFHQ-W Joins Clean-up Drive to Mark Army Anniversary Day

    The 63rd anniversary and Army Day (October 10) celebrations at Security Forces Headquarters, Wanni (SFHQ-W) commenced on Wednesday (10) after the message of the Commander was read out at the SFHQ-W premises. Afterwards, Brigadier A.K.P Wickramasinghe, Brigadier Administration, on behalf of the Commander, SFHQ-W, together with officers and other ranks, commenced a clean-up campaign at Vavuniya Army Field Hospital complex as one more segment of the day’s programme.
  • Indian Embassy Official & UN Reps Tour Wanni & Mullaittivu Areas

    Defence Attaché at Colombo’s High Commission for India, Captain S. Kapoor during the weekend (6-7) visited Wanni and paid a courtesy call to the Security Forces Headquarters, Wanni (SFHQ-W). During his stopover at the SFHQ-W, he received an update on the ongoing infrastructure development work, resettlement, economic progress and security in the Wanni region from the SFHQ-W senior officers on behalf of its Commander who was away.
  • ICRC Delegation Provides Update on ICRC Involvements in Sri Lanka

    A three-member delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) with the aim of providing a brief update on the ICRC’s ongoing and foreseen humanitarian undertakings in Sri Lanka for the year 2015, had  a courtesy call on the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Crishanthe De Silva Friday (27) afternoon.
  • Scholarships for Army Families & Gift Parcels for Kilinochchi Students Distributed

    Security Forces Headquarters - Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN) with the objective of supporting families of SFHQ-KLN troops, launched a programme to award scholarships to 100 children of Army families, thanks to financial support, given by Mr Ricky Weerasinghe of Malaysia. The event took place on Sunday (6) on the directions of the Commander, SFHQ-KLN. Each recipient received a cheque to the value of Rs 2,000/=........

  • Jaffna Power House Road Now Open for Public

    THE famous Power House road in Jaffna, remained hitherto closed for public owing to security reasons is now open for public transport, the Security Forces Headquarters, Jaffna announced. The opening came into effect this morning (8) with recommencement of a bus service. This public road will cut short access distance to the Jaffna main bus stand and facilitates civilians and businessmen living on sideways.
  • Jaffna Tech Students Volunteer to Help Army Troops Cleaning Hospital Premises

    About 65 students from Jaffna Technical College joined hands together voluntarily with soldiers of the Ottahapulam-based 511 Brigade to clean up the Atchuvely Provincial Hospital during a recent Shramadana campaign. Brigade Commander and soldiers, appreciative of those young men’s initiative in helping the troops for a public cause, invited them to share lunch with the troops on the beaches at Thondamanaru.
