  • MORE DEAD TIGERS IDENTIFIED

    MULLAITTIVU: ARMY troops engaged in clearing and search operations in the finally-cleared areas found and identified dead bodies of several more leaders of the terrorist outfit today (20), the Army said. They include VETTRI of the LTTE Intelligence wing, VINODAN and RAM KUMAR of the Intelligence attack wing, MANIMEKALA (KOMALI) the female leader of Intelligence, ANNA THURAI the political wing leader for BATTICALOA and RANGAN, a leader of the Sea Tigers wing.     

  • Secretary Defence Pays Courtesy Call on India's Defence Chiefs


    The formal visit of the high-level defence delegation to India, led by Eng. Karunasena Hettiarachchi, Secretary to Ministry of Defence for the 3rd ‘India-Sri Lanka Defence Dialogue’, ended on a very successful note on Tuesday (22).  During the stay in India, the Sri Lankan Secretary to Ministry of Defence paid courtesy calls on the Minister of State for Defence of India Mr Rao Inderjit Singh and India’s National Security Advisor, Dr Ajit K. Doval.
     
  • Seminar on Grade 5 Schol Exam Draws a Packed Audience


    55 Division Headquarters at Vettalkerni, Jaffna with the great intention of raising standards of knowledge among more than 300 Grade 5 scholarship examination students, organized a full-day seminar at Palai Madhya Maha Vidyalaya, situated in the 551 Brigade area. The arrangement, in line with instructions given by the respective Zonal Department of Education, attracted students of Maradankerni and Kilinochchi zones as well.
     
  • Army Conducts Further Search & Clear Operations in North & East

    NORTH & EAST: ARMY troops on Tuesday (28) recovered thirteen anti personnel mines,  six T-56 weapons, nineteen T-56 magazines, six I-com sets, fifteen thousand one hundred and eighty-one rounds of T-56 ammunition,    two claymore mines, one container with a stock of 12.7 mm ammunition, two hundred and seventy-five 12.7 mm ammunition, twelve pistol ammunition,  four thousand and one hundred rounds of Multi Purpose Machine Gun (MPMG) ammunition, one T-81 weapon, ten 60 mm mortar bombs, Rs. 4300/= in cash, four cans of kerosene.....

  • US Civil Military Relations Centre Trains SL Defence Forces

    US Embassy Centre for Civil-Military Relations (CCMR) recently conducted a training course on Civil-Military Relations for the Civil Affairs Officers of the Sri Lanka Armed Forces. The course at the Cinnamon Grand Hotel Colombo was attended by 20 Military Officers including 9 Army Officers. The lectures conducted by a panel of US lecturers including US Army personnel taught student officers various aspects of Civil-Military Relations.

  • China's Minister of National Defence Arrives in Sri Lanka on Goodwill Visit


    General Liang Guanglie, State Councillor and Minister of National Defence of People’s Republic of China (PRC) arrived in Sri Lanka Wednesday (29) morning on a five-day official visit, together with a delegation of senior military officers. Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Air Chief Marshal Roshan Goonetillake, Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya, Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral D.W.A.S. Dissanayake, Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal H.D Abeywickrama and Military Liaison Officer (MLO).......



     

  • More Bicycles Distributed Among Ex-Combatants' Children


    300 bicycles, gifted by Singaporeans, led by Ven Bellanwila Dhammaratana Nayaka Thero, Advisor, Singapore Buddhist Library and Chief Incumbent, Bellanwila Raja Maha Viharaya, were recently distributed among rehabilitated former combatants, their children and school students in Puthukkuddiyirippu area of the Security Force Headquarters - Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT).
