  • Army Personnel Enable Police to Arrest Three with 501.6 grams of Heroin

    Active assistance given by Army personnel enabled the Police Narcotics Bureau to arrest three suspects, engaged in the sale of narcotics to foreign tourists on Tuesday (29) late night, together with 501.6 grams of Heroin from Dehiwala area. Army personnel on being informed of this clandestine business remained vigilant for a couple of days before the Police were tipped to take those drugdealers into custody with Heroin, brought down here to be sold to foreigners visiting Sri Lanka.

  • SL Engineers Honour Sports Achievements in 2010 - 2011

    Sri Lanka Engineers (SLE) Regiment, one of the leading support wings in the Army, had its combined 2010 - 2011 ‘Colours Night’ at its Panagoda Regimental Headquarters on Tuesday (3) evening.   • Roads to Our Lady of Madhu Open Round the Clock

    ALL ROADS leading to the most sacred Madu Shrine will remain open on all seven days of the weeks effective from Monday (11) midnight in response to requests made by clergy in the area, Military Spokesman Brigadier Udaya Nanayakkara has declared. Security arrangements in the areas have been relaxed after clearing a considerable area of LTTE landmines and other explosive devices. Devotees are free to participate in religious observances as they wished.

  • Swimming & Water Polo Inter Regiment Championship Concludes

    SRI LANKA Army Inter Regiment Swimming and Water Polo Championship got under way at Army Headquarters Swimming Pool Complex during past two days (July 8-9). Representing 17 Regiments, a record 200 competitors showed their colours and offered a tight challenge against their fellow-swimmers. Disabled War Heroes too participated in this tournament giving a similar neck to neck competition as other ordinary swimmers.
