The Sri Lanka Signal Corps (SLSC) Seva Vanitha Unit on Wednesday (30) morning offered a huge boost to the Seva Vanitha Army Branch’s (SVAB) ‘Brave Hearts’ project after donating a sum of Rs 1 million towards the fast completion of the second wellness resort project for dependent War Heroes at Wilpitawatta, Kamburupitiya.
The SLSC Seva Vanitha Unit, chaired by Mrs Sandamali Abeysekara, with the support of her Seva Vanitha unit members and the presence of Mrs Manjulika Jayasuriya, President, SVAB as the chief guest conducted a mammoth blood donation drive at SLSC Regimental Centre at Panagoda. Over 200 SLSC soldiers, Seva Vanitha and Viru Daru Society members enthusiastically came forward and donated blood that can be used to treat patients at military hospitals and Homagama Base hospital. A medical team of more than 12 members supported the blood donation drive.
During Mrs Jayasuriya’s stay at Panagoda, Mrs Abeysekara on behalf of all her Seva Vanitha members presented the cheque to the value of Rs 1 million for the use of construction and purchase of the ‘Abimansala - 2’ wellness resort requirements in progress at Kamburupitiya.
Mrs Jayasuriya acknowledged the patronage of the Seva Vanitha members, SLSC soldiers and thanked the SLSC Seva Vanitha for its thoughtfulness and timely assistance.
Major General E.P. de Z. Abeysekara, Colonel of the SLSC Regiment witnessed the inauguration of the blood donation campaign. Senior Seva Vanitha members and a large gathering of soldiers were associated with the day’s programme.
