 UK based ‘Rata Wenuwen Api’, an organization of Sri Lankan expatriates, mindful of numerous sacrifices made by War Heroes in the battlefields for defence of our motherland, recently offered their share of assistance to the Ragama Ranaviru Sevana during a ‘Talent Show’ organized for them. Ms Kanthi Silva, a representative expatriate from the above organization during the weekend entertainment donated £ 6500 (about Rs.1.1 million) to the Ranaviru Sevana for the purchase.....

THE ANNUAL SPORTS MEET at Diyathalawa Viru Kekulu Pre-school, run by Seva Vanitha Army Branch (SVAB) was held at Diyathalawa Polo ground on 27th February 2010. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Mrs. Manjulika Jayasuriya, President SVAB. This was organized to improve the sports skills of the pre-school students. Tricycle races, obstacle crossing, fancy dress parades, team events and PT display, etc were among prominent and interesting features in the event.

THE PROPOSED Wellness Resort at Anuradhapura received further patronage during the February month Seva Vanitha Army Branch (SVAB) meeting when one Mrs Chandra Fernando, and expatriate from Mount Lavinia gave away Rs 30,000 towards the project in memory of her late parents. Mr Upali Gallage and Mrs Leelawathi on behalf of the expatriate, Mrs Chandra Fernando made the donation to Mrs Manjulika Jayasuriya, President SVAB during the monthly meeting at SVAB auditorium, Army Headquarters.

THE ANNUAL sports festival at Galle ‘Viru Kekulu’ pre-school, managed by Seva Vanitha Army Branch (SVAB) got underway during the weekend at 2 Gemunu Watch (V) play ground, Galle Fort. The sports festival, an annual event at the pre-school, attended by over one hundred kids, belonging to Galle District based War Hero families, is also meant to promote sports skills among those kids, attending this SVAB school. Sunday’s (21) ceremony saw Mrs Manjulika Jayasuriya, President SVAB gracing the occasion as Chief Guest gave away special gifts among kids who excelled in different spheres of sports.
