Today (1st June 2023) marks the completion of the first year of office of the incumbent 24th Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu whose command and leadership has made significant and progressive contribution to the growth of the Sri Lanka Army while making great strides in many a sphere, like nation building and community oriented projects, enhancing measures for soldiers welfare, resource and financial management strategies, restructuring of Army formations and so on, to state just a few.

Not forgetful of the bravery of the corps of professionally-trained War Heroes who sacrificed their legs and limbs for the motherland before May 2009, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, Commander of the Army, together with Mrs Janaki Liyanage, President, Army Seva Vanitha Unit (ASVU) paid a visit to see the War Heroes under recuperation and rehabilitation at 'Abhimansala - 02' wellness resort at Kamburupitiya on Saturday (May 27) and spent a few hours with those resident War Heroes while inquiring about their well-being.
