    US-based Dharma Vijaya Foundation Gifts Medical Devices for Use of COVID-19 Patients

    A large consignment of vital life-supporting medical devices, equipment and accessories, gifted to Sri Lanka for COVID-19 control work by the laity at US-based Dharma Vijaya Foundation and Buddhist Viharaya was symbolically vested in the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) this morning (1) during a meeting with General Shavendra Silva, Head, NOCPCO, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army.

    The Sri Lanka Army Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (SLEME), making great strides in the repairs of unserviceable Army vehicle fleet and thereby saving a fair chunk of foreign exchange as per specific instructions given by the Army Chief, added another completely refurbished 12 more Land Rover model vehicles to the Army fleet this morning (29) after symbolically handing them to the Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army, General Shavendra Silva at the Army HQ.

    The two newly-posted Regimental Sergeant Majors (RSMs) to the Sri Lanka Military Academy (SLMA) and the Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) on Monday (28) had the rare chance of receiving guidelines, instructions and best wishes on their new appointments from none other than the chief of the organization, General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army when both of them called at the Commander’s office, together with the Adjutant General, Major General Sanjaya Wanasinghe and the RSM at the Army Headquarters.

    SLEME Troops Make Condemned Army Vehicles Motorable

    A fleet of unserviceable Army vehicles that included a garbage truck, three jeeps and one double cab, hitherto remained unused have now been made completely motorable again in Colombo, Katubedda and Kosgama Sri Lanka Army Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (SLEME) Base workshops after overhaul and repairs, saving a large sum of money to the Army. Among those vehicles is a newly-improvised vegetable selling truck that was brought to the Army HQ this morning (16) in order to show them to the Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army, General Shavendra Silva.

    General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army was one of the distinguished guest speakers to the ongoing 2nd day (7-9 June) virtual online sessions at the Sri Lanka Investment Forum (SLIF) on Tuesday (8). He was invited as one of Expert Resource Personnel to speak on the topic 'Managing the COVID 19 Pandemic, Protecting Life, Livelihood, and Economic Progress' as the Head, National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) in Sri Lanka. Over 65 countries joined the seminar, themed "Sri Lanka-Asia's Next Growth Heaven".
