Potential Army Retirees Qualify as Tradesmen

The Centre for Army Vocational Training (CAVT) at Kalaoya, Saliyawewa where potential Army retirees and others are trained as different tradesmen, awarded National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) certificates to 122 more Army personnel and 20 civil sector students during a brief ceremony, held on Tuesday (2) at the CAVT auditorium.

Those trainees followed two one-year long courses and six six-month long courses in aluminum work, domestic wiring, repair of electronic and electric appliances, plumbing, masonary, steel, technology, etc.

The CAVT with the support of resource personnel of the Sri Lanka Vocational Training Authority (SLVTA), Anuradhapura conducted those courses, which accordingly qualify the attendees to receive the well-recognized National Vocational Qualification (NVQ), now equivalent to the G.C.E. O/L standards.

Brigadier Randula Hathnagoda, Commandant, CAVT, Mr C.P Wijedasa, SLVTA Officer In charge of Courses at Anuradhapura Branch and the CAVT Commanding Officer shared the award of those certificates to the trainees.
