Mullaittivu SFHQ Complex Accommodates Movement Across Camp After Opening Road

Security Force Headquarters - Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT), in another move of goodwill and reconciliation on Monday (1), accommodated the concerns of the public in the area and opened up the public road that runs across the SFHQ-MLT connecting Vattappalai and Puthukudiyirippu to coincide with the dawn of the New Year - 2018.

This public road that remained hitherto closed due to the existence of the SFHQ-MLT complex, compelled civilians reaching Vattappalai from Puthukudiyirippu to make a detour since the 2-km long patch of the road, remained closed for movements nearly for the past 8 years.

It was just a few days ago, the Security Force Headquarters - Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT) released a large segment of lands and properties in Keppapilavu and Seeniyamottai areas back to legitimate owners and facilitated owners to reclaim their properties to be in line with the government’s policy of releasing more and more private properties, being used by the Security Forces.

A few days ago, a land area of 133.34 acres plus 28 buildings, belonging to civilians were released in Keppapilavu and Seeniyamottai areas and vested in legitimate owners in the presence of state authorities on the guidelines, given by the Commander of the Army. All those buildings were fully repaired, renovated or completely rebuilt at Army cost before they were returned.

Barely hours after the release, the SFHQ-MLT on the directions given by Major General Dushyantha Rajaguru facilitated a large group of those property owners to take charge of their lands and buildings by transporting them to specific locations with the SFHQ-MLT coordination after they projected the need to the SFHQ-MLT.

On Wednesday (28), those delighted property owners upon receipt of their lands and buildings back after so many years joined hands with a section of SFHQ-MLT Officers and Other Rankers to clean up the abandoned Kottadi Pullaiyar Kovil building in one of their lands and re-sanctified it by preparing a special ‘Muruthen’ meal in the premises.

Kurukkal Vigneshwaran at the invitation of those devotees conducted a special Pooja at the same time and invoked blessings on those property owners and members of the Security Forces for the initiative taken in this regard.

Due to the opening of this road, civilians as well as property owners are able to move via the SFHQ-MLT premises comfortably and reach their cleared properties and Vattappalai with less time and effort, unlike before.
