‘Ride with Pride’ Cycling for Healthy Nation Kicks Off at Battaramulla

Sri Lanka Army’s one more leading project, ‘Ride with Pride’ Army cycling tour with hundreds of Army and civil cyclists, kicked off for the first time in the Army’s history Wednesday (31) morning from the War Heroes’ monument at Battaramulla.

Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake, Commander of the Army who also took part in the cycle ride flagged off the event amidst cheers.

The mega cycling tour, with more than 300 cyclists from Army, Navy, Air Force and civil sector was organized on a grand scale, following elaborate arrangements, put in place by the Directorate of Army Sports, chaired by Major General Anura Sudasinghe, Director General Sports and the support extended by authorities in the Army Cycling Committee headed by Brigadier Duminda Sirinaga.

The expedition enabled the riders to traversed via Thalawathugoda, Pelawatta, Pannipitiya, Kottawa, Homagama, Pitipana Junction and ended at the indoor gymnasium at Panagoda Army Cantonment.

At Battaramulla, the Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake was welcomed on arrival by Major General Amal Karunasekara, Chief of Staff.

After the expedition ended at Panagoda, the Commander of the Army took time off to have a look around Sport Village inside the Army Cantonment. Several Senior Officers accompanied the Commander around the premises.
