The Poson Full Moon Poya Day programme, “Kruthavedithwaye Pinkama” (meritorious act of gratitude) of the ‘Deranabhivandana’ organized by the ‘Derana’ TV from the sacred Anuradhapura Ruwanweli Maha Seya premises got underway this evening (5) in order to invoke blessings on all sectors engaged in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic in the country and appreciate their invaluable services at this critical moment.
Hon Minister of Health and Indigenous Medical Services, Mrs Pavithra Wanniarachchi, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army and Head of the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO), Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva, Director General of Health Services and Medical Specialist, Dr Anil Jasinghe, Chief Epidemiologist, Dr Paba Palihawadana, Health Ministry Officials, Mrs Sujeewa Nelson, President, Army Seva Vanitha Unit, a representative gathering of Public Health Inspectors, Hospital Staffers and para medical staff were there at the premises during this one-hour long blessing ceremony, administered by Most Ven Dr Kotapola Amarakiththi Nayake Thera, Patron of the Shanthi Foundation.
Ven. Dr Amarakiththi Nayake Thera commending untiring and dedicated national roles, being still played by Health sector officials, Public Health Inspectors, Army, Navy and Air Force personnel, Hospital Nursing and minor Staffers and all other contributors in the fight against the deadly virus, performed religious observances in the ‘Pinkama’ and delivered the oration (Anushasana) that paid the Nation’s gratitude to all of them for performance of life-threatening roles for the best interests of the Nation.
The day’s full Poson Day programme was attended by Most Ven Dr Medagama Abhayatissa Nayake Thera, Ven Dr Pallegama Hemarathana Nayake Thera, Incumbent, Ruwanweli Maha Seya, and a few other leading monks.
